A woman who says her husband pays her to "take care of the house" revealed she made Sh20.9 million (£138,000) in one year - and others have said they are glad her role is being recognised as a job.

Sharing a video to TikTok, where she simply identifies herself as 'Mrs', the 26-year-old explained that she married her husband one year ago and is now a housewife.

She wrote: "My husband deposits money every month in my account to 'pay' me for taking care of the house. And that's what I got in one year staying at home."

The clip then shows her signing into an online banking account to show an available balance of more than Sh20.9 million (£138,000), adding the comment: "Not bad."

Since being posted, the video captioned 'He's sweet' has been viewed more than 5.5 million times and has gained more than 9,000 comments as she shared that her partner has made his money through "oil and real estate", adding they currently don't have children.

One said: "I'm going to be honest here, I'm so happy to see that. Housewifery/housekeeping is a job."

A second wrote: "It's always the wealthy men who recognise the value of taking care of a home and family, it's only the broke dudes who think it's 'doing nothing'."

When one added: "I'm assuming that house is SPARKLING CLEAN", she replied to say that she doesn't do the cleaning as they hire staff for that, adding: "Yesss my maid does a great job."

Others tried to get in on the arrangement, as a third commented: "Ya'll need a dog? I can be a cat too."

Another asked: "He got a brother, cousin, uncle? Is his dad still alive?"

Others joked they would now be negotiating a similar deal, with one replying: "I didn't have a reason to fight with my husband today but the good lord found one for me."

And someone else said: "Wait... are you guys telling me you get paid? I do it for free."
