Reasons why eating bacons and eggs for breakfast could help you lose weight

Across the country people are tucking into bowls of low-fat low-sugar low-carb low-taste breakfasts in a desperate bid to lose that belly.

The organization's senior principal research scientist Professor Manny Noakes said: "The average Australian eats lower amounts of protein at breakfast which is an advantage, it may help control eating later in the day.

"If you find it difficult to control what you eat, a redistribution of protein toward breakfast may be the answer to reducing your waistline without leaving ravenously hungry and craving unhealthy foods."

Eggs and meats are a good source of protein, which could be great news for a breakfast menu.

However, both can be high in fat and other bad things, so make sure they are cooked  in the healthiest way possible.

The study found that most Australians are not getting the recommended 25g per meal - with women consuming just 11g and men 15g.

Professor Noakes said: "The scientific evidence supports a higher protein diet, combined with regular exercise, for greater fat loss.

"Eating at least 25g of protein at main meals can assist with hunger control."
