Out of all the parts of your body, you would not think that your armpits would need a detox this is because, your underarms are the entry and exit points for toxic substances to your body.

A detox is the process of ridding the body of toxic substances.

Deodorants are the most commonly used products in the underarm area and some harmful ingredients in them are absorbed into the body through the skin. After prolonged use, chemical remnants build up on the skin.

Below is a simple recipe for an armpit detox as well as its benefits.

Armpit detox mask

A popular and easy underarm detox mask that you can make at home is with one tablespoon of bentonite clay, one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and 1-2 teaspoons of water. Bentonite clay is generally used as a face mask to draw out toxins and it also has amazing benefits for your armpits.

Apply the paste onto clean underarms and leave it on for 15 minutes. Llay on your back with your hands raised above your head so that the mask can fully dry. Afterwards, rinse it off and proceed with the rest of your body care routine.

Benefits of this detox

Armpits are porous, which is why we sweat in that area. However, since the underarm area is enclosed it is susceptible to body odour. Apple cider vinegar has antibacterial properties which can help kill bacteria that cause body odour. When used frequently, the above mask can reduce odour increasing your confidence.

Most of us use deodorant daily and it’s a product that clogs sweat glands and decreases sweating. As a result, a layer of gel is created on the skin’s surface and this gel is not absorbed into the skin. A detox mask will fully clear this deodorant residue from the skin.
