Arab women are popularly admired for their captivating beauty. According to a study by Clinique La Prairie, Arab women have the healthiest and youngest looking skin in the world. Although these traits are largely genetic, a good beauty routine can still enhance and improve what you currently have. Below, we unravel five beauty hacks behind their glowing skin and lustrous hair.
- Potato and yoghurt face mask
Although this mask is a basic mix of mashed potato and natural yoghurt, it holds powerful skin benefits. It helps alleviate dark marks, blemishes, and under-eye dark circles. Yoghurt, in particular, is really good for fine lines and wrinkles. Overall, this mask will improve and brighten your skin. Simply boil half a potato, mash it up and mix it with two tablespoons of natural yoghurt. Leave it on for ten minutes, and then rinse it off to reveal clear, glowing skin.
- Milk and honey bath
Have you always wanted beautiful skin like Cleopatra? Taking a warm bath in milk and honey will do just that. The Ancient Egyptian queen took daily baths in donkey milk and honey. Don’t worry though, you can use regular cow milk unless you can actually get your hands on donkey milk!
Mix together two cups of milk with half a cup of honey, and add it to your warm bathwater. In addition to this, Cleopatra would add almond oil. Almond oil hydrates the skin, reduces the appearance of scars as well as the appearance of stretch marks.
- Olive oil and honey hair mask
Olive oil and honey are supposedly Cleopatra’s two favourite ingredients. Olive oil is an ancient remedy for dull hair. It stimulates the blood at the roots, moisturises the ends to give the hair some shine. Honey is able to absorb and retain moisture, making it a major key for soft and hydrated hair. Mix together half a cup of organic olive oil, then add one-third of a cup of organic honey. Simmer it on medium heat, but do not boil it. Apply it to dry hair before shampooing and conditioning.
- Moroccan red clay face mask
Moroccan red clay originates from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco from deposits made by volcanic activity and geothermic changes in the soil. This magical clay tightens pores, reduces signs of aging, reduces breakouts, smoothens skin texture and improves skin tone.
Mix equal parts of the red clay powder with water to create a paste. Apply it to a clean face and leave it on for 20 minutes. When it is dry, rinse it off and then proceed with the rest of your skincare routine.
- Moroccan argan oil
This is a popularly used magical oil that originates from the kernels of the Argan tree. It is packed with vitamin E, which helps improves the general appearance of skin and hair. In addition to this, it is not heavy or greasy meaning that it easily absorbs into the skin. This can be used from head to toe to achieve a golden glow!
