Let’s make a simple and tasty sausage and sweet potato salad. Baking sausages is such a healthy cooking method and unbelievably the sausages turn out just like they are fried and taste the same. We will toss the sausages with some sweet potatoes, buttermilk and a bit of spices and then serve.
What you will need:
8 sausage baked
1 iceberg lettuce
1 cup buttermilk (maziwa lala)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon garlic ginger paste
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
1 large sweet potato washed and baked
Salt to taste
Coriander for garnish
What to do:
Wash the iceberg lettuce, separate it into big chunks with your hands and set aside.
In a separate bowl put the buttermilk, add in the garlic-ginger paste, turmeric powder, cayenne pepper and salt to taste. Give it a good mix.
Once combined, chop the coriander into tiny pieces, add it to the butter milk mixture and set aside.
Take your baked sweet potato, cut it into slices.
Do the same for the baked sausages and set aside.
To assemble our salad, get a deep plate place the iceberg lettuce. Dip the sweet potatoes into the buttermilk mixture and mix well then place them on the iceberg lettuce.
Add the sliced sausages.
Garnish with some coriander and you are ready to serve and enjoy the delicious healthy salad.
