He signed up to a dating site. Am I being played?

Dear Roxanne,

I was using my boyfriend’s laptop when I stumbled upon his profile on an online dating site. We have been in a committed relationship for eight months and it broke my heart to find out that he has been visiting a dating site. When I confronted him about it, he said that he created the profile long before he met me and that it is nothing to worry about. I demanded he deletes it and we had a big fight about it, before he eventually agreed after I threatened to walk out on him. Now, I can’t help but wonder if he has been meeting the women on the site behind my back or if he is signed up on other dating sites. I feel like I can’t trust him anymore. It is driving me crazy. Please help. Tina.

Dear Tina,

It doesn’t sound like your boyfriend is taking your relationship very seriously if he is still checking other women’s profiles on dating sites.

It doesn’t matter when he created the profile. If he is still logging on to the site, it means he is not contented with the relationship and is keeping his options open as he continues to see you.

You can either talk to him to try and find out what he feels he is missing.

There is no plausible explanation as to why a person who claims to be in a committed relationship should be on a dating site.
