If you are a big fan of the refreshing blend of zesty lemon, tangy blackberries and sweet sugar, this is your go-to cocktail. With a final pour of Crème de Mûre, the Bramble cocktail achieves a gorgeous pink tint as it swirls slowly into the enticing drink.

Bramble cocktail gets its name from the bramble bush, the plant that grows blackberries. The drink was created in 1984 by bartender Dick Bradsell while working at Fred’s Club in Soho, London. He was inspired by his childhood memories of picking blackberries and wanted to make a simple, flavourful cocktail.

The main flavour of a Bramble is blackberry. While blackberries are the fruit, brambles are the bushes they grow on. The cocktail typically includes Crème de Mûre, a blackberry liqueur.

INGREDIENTS:

Gin (50 ml)

Fresh Lemon juice (30 ml)

Sugar syrup (1 Tablespoon)

Blackberry liqueur, such as Crème de mûre (1 Tablespoon.)

Lemon slices and blackberries to garnish.

HOW TO MAKE IT:

Start by filling the cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Then add gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup into the shaker. Shake them carefully until well-chilled.

Take a cocktail glass or a small tumbler and fill it with crushed ice. Then pour over the shaken mixture into the glass. Slowly drizzle the Crème de Mûre over the top so it gently trickles down through the drink, creating a beautiful “bleeding” effect in the glass.

Now that it is done, garnish your Bramble cocktail with a lemon slice and blackberries. Garnishing is not mandatory, but it makes your cocktail look delicious and amazing.

There is also some good news for non-alcoholics and lightweights. You can make a non-alcoholic Bramble by mixing soda water, lemon juice, sugar syrup, and black forest syrup. There are fun variations too, like a Bramble Royale (with champagne), a Bourbon Bramble (with bourbon instead of gin), or a Winter Bramble with warm spices and apple juice for a seasonal twist. This enticing recipe is by Cosmopolitan. Enjoy!
