Covid-19: Kenya records 3,286 cases, four deaths in last 24 hours

Kenya’s Covid-19 death toll has risen to 5,376 after four deaths were reported from the virus in the last 24 hours.

In a statement on Thursday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said 3,286 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the past 24 hours from a sample of 11,703 raising the country's caseload to 292,237.

Out of the new patients, 1,648 are female, whereas 1,638 are male, with the youngest carrier being an eight-month-old child and the oldest aged 103.

Of the new cases, 435 are foreigners.

In terms of counties distribution, Nairobi County recorded 1,176 cases, Nakuru 237, Mombasa 187, Kiambu 133, Nyandarua 127, Migori 122, Nyeri 115, Uasin Gishu 114, and Siaya 110.

Total recoveries now stand at 251, 223 after 260 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.

Of the total recoveries, 152 are from the Home-Based and Isolation care programme while 108 are from various health facilities countrywide.

A total of 935 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 22,771 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care. 41 patients are in the ICU with 20 of them are on ventilatory support while 21 are on supplemental oxygen.

Another 207 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 182 of them in the general wards while 25 patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

In terms of vaccination, Kenya has so far administered 9,849,459 Covid-19 vaccines across the country according to the Ministry of Health latest records.

Of these, 5,762,996 have been partially vaccinated while 4,086,482 have been fully vaccinated.

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 55.8 per cent. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 15 per cent as the government works towards vaccinating 27, 246,033.
