Some 566 people have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 5,344 tested in the last 24 hours.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said the positivity rate is now 10.6 per cent. Of the cases, 546 are Kenyans while 20 are foreigners. The number includes 318 men and 248 women.
The Health ministry statement added that the youngest is an 11-month-old infant while the oldest is 97 years.
Kenya’s total confirmed positive cases are now 187,525 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,001,786.
In terms of county distribution; Nairobi led with 200, followed by Kericho’s 64, Mombasa 37, Kiambu 31, Uasin Gishu 30, Siaya 26 and Nakuru 24 among others.
Kagwe said the distribution of positive cases by age is as follows; 0-9 years (18), 10-19 years (41), 20-29 years (94), 30-39 (130) 40-49 (109) 50-59 (82) 60 years and above (92).
Some 1,934 patients recovered from the disease, with 1,693 are from home-based isolation and care, while 241 are from various health facilities.
Total recoveries now stand at 176,456 out of which 140,586 are from the home-based care and isolation programme, while 35,870 are from various health facilities.
Kagwe stated that 11 patients have succumbed to the disease, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 3,716.
A total of 1,136 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 4,825 patients are under the home-based isolation and care programme.
Some 116 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 30 of whom are on ventilatory support and 57 on supplemental oxygen. Twenty-nine patients are under observation.
As of today, a total of 1,524,555 vaccines had so far been administered across the country. Of these, total first doses are 1,024,244 while second doses are 500,311.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 48.8 per cent, with the majority being men at 55 per cent while women are at 45 per cent.
The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 1.92 per cent, Kagwe said.
