Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital (KUTRRH) set to open soon has embarked on staff hiring.
“The hospital is seeking to recruit highly trans-formative and dynamic self-driven individuals with high degree of integrity result oriented demonstrable professionalism competence and impeccable capability,” read part of an advert in yesterday's dailies.
Acting hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Andrew Toro said the referral facility will open doors to the public "anytime from next month".
The 600-bed hospital built at a cost of Sh8 billion has been idle for two years after its completion due to an ownership and management dispute. The public university had insisted on owning it.
The hospital was however turned into a state corporation under the Health ministry after President Uhuru Kenyatta signed an order to that effect on January 22.
In the order, the President said the hospital be run by a CEO and a board of management consisting of a non-executive chairperson appointed by the President, a few principal secretaries, top university managers and other state officials.
The board is chaired by former Kenyatta University (KU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Olive Mugenda. The hospital will join Kenyatta National Hospital and Moi Teaching Referral Hospital in Eldoret which are public facilities, currently offering specialised treatment
