Kenya on Sunday, July 11 recorded 241 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, from a sample of 2,961 raising the country's caseload to 188,754.
In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the new infections take the country’s positivity rate to 8.1 per cent and cumulated tests conducted so far to 2,015,659.
Distribution
In terms of counties distribution, Nairobi Nairobi recorded 165 cases, Kiambu 16, Nyeri 11, Nakuru 10, Murang’a 6, Mombasa 5, Kajiado 4, Siaya 4, Homa Bay 3, Kisii 3, Kwale 3, Machakos 3, Kilifi 2, Meru 2 while Narok, Taita Taveta, Uasin Gishu and Bomet registered 1 case each.
Kenya’s Covid-19 toll reached 3,722 after one person succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.
The total recoveries so far stand at 179,520 after 1,401 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours with 1,380 from the Home-Based and Isolation care programme while 21 are from various health facilities in the country.
Of the total recoveries, 143,338 are from the Home Based Isolation Care programme while 36,182 are from various hospitals countrywide.
A total of 1,092 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 4,077 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
One hundred and fifteen (115) patients are in the ICU, 37 of whom are on ventilatory support and 58 on supplemental oxygen. Twenty (20) patients are on observation.
Another 209 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 185 of them in general wards and 24 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Vaccination
Kenya has by July 11, 2021, administered 1,539,087 vaccines across the country of which the first doses are 1,026,960 while the second doses are 512,127.
The uptake of the second dose by Priority Groups is as follows: Health Workers 98,044, Aged 58 years and above 158,270, Others 144,669, Teachers 70,648 while Security Officers are at 40,496.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 49.9 per cent with the majority being males at 55 per cent while females are at 45 per cent. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 2.0 per cent.
