Siaya, Kenya: ODM has promised to address the political mess in Siaya County. The party's national chairman John Mbadi said the wrangles that continue to be witnessed the county were a shame to local leadership.
He said the party is investigating the incident where rowdy youths disrupted Governor Cornel Rasanga's rally at Yala township in Gem Constituency. Police and Rasanga's bodyguards were forced to fire in the air to disperse the rowdy crowd before whisking Rasanga to safety.
"The party will ensure ringleaders of the chaos are punished. The party is not ready to lose support from the grass-roots at the expense of few individuals who seek cheap political gains," said the Suba MP.
He urged the local leaders and supporters to embrace peaceful co-existence to enhance development. He warned youths against being used by politicians to perpetrate violence during public rallies.
Rasanga called for quick investigations so that the people responsible for the chaos can be apprehended and prosecuted.
He claimed that organisers of the chaos ferried youths from Kisumu town.
"These people should be apprehended. I can confirm that four matatus ferried the goons," he said.
