A 64-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his own nine-year-old grandson.
Stewart James Green was tonight charged with the murder of Alex James Robinson after his death yesterday.
Police were called to an address in Lincoln on Tuesday and the youngster was rushed to hospital.
However, despite medics battling to save his life, he was pronounced dead a short time later.
A post mortem was carried out this morning and in a statement on their website, Lincoln police said the investigation is now being treated as a murder enquiry.
Green is due to appear before Lincoln Magistrates on Boxing Day.
