Sonko claps back at trolls attacking him for photo with Omanga, Kananu

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is a man of many hats and fearless when it comes to tackling some of his followers on social media.

But on January 2, Sonko's savage response to online trolls left many tongues wagging. The former Governor had shared a photo in which he was sandwiched between former Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu and former Nairobi nominated Senator Millicent Omanga.

"Hawa wameokoka nakukuwa watu wa chai kama mimi. Welcome to the club ya chai", Sonko captioned the photo in which both Omanga and Kananu were captured each with her left foot slightly elevated in a feminine style.

However, some followers used the opportunity to grill Sonko on his relationship with the two ladies. One of the followers demanded to know who between the two ladies was likely to be giving Sonko sleepless nights.

Another follower described Sonko as "Mkunaji", a term which is loosely translated by his music fans to mean that he loves women.

But in a sharp response, Sonko wrote, "Mkunaji wakwangu alikuwa mamako mpaka tukakuza wewe mtoto mkorofi. (My lover was your mum and we raised you, a naughty child)."

Sometime in 2022, Sonko, while in the company of top Kenya Kwanza leaders, said that he used to consume alcohol during events, but that nowadays tea is part and parcel of such functions.

"God is great. Yaani, nowadays it is tea throughout," Sonko posted while using smiley emojis to describe different types of alcoholic drinks that they used to share in their meetings.

The former governor has never been shy when it comes to booze, including sharing photos in bars and even coming out to support the legalisation of marijuana in 2019.

While handing over four functions to the now-disbanded Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) in 2020, Sonko claimed that he got tipsy at State House.

"I was drunk when I signed the deed of transfer on some functions to the national government at State House. I was served alcohol ahead of the signing ceremony," he claimed.
