Social media giant Facebook has been sued in a Sh300 billion mega class suit over claims of failing to regulate offensive content.
The suit filed against Facebook's parent company, Meta Platforms, at the High Court in Nairobi by civil society organisations and two victims of social media bullying has exposed the pain thousands of people go through in cyber bullying, discrimination and abuse on social media.
"The company has allowed and continues to allow inciting, hateful and dangerous posts on Facebook thereby violating the rights of many victims, some of them who have died as a result of the online bullying and negative comments about them," said lawyer Mercy Mutemi for the victims.
