Chrissy King is a writer, speaker, fitness and strength coach and powerlifter. She is also the vice executive director of Women’s Strength Coalition.
Chrissy started her journey at age 16 when she gained a lot of weight during her parents’ divorce. A casual comment about it drove her to crash dieting and because she lost a lot of weight doing this and received positive feedback from others, she continued an unhealthy cycle of extreme dieting then weight gain.
Eventually, she joined her sister training at a gym and got a trainer who convinced her to start strength training. Although resistant at first because she thought she would get big muscles, she enjoyed how she felt and looked.
She took an online qualification to become a trainer while working a corporate job and began training clients after work hours.
Eventually she quit her job to work full time as a trainer, dedicated to helping women, particularly those of colour, to love and appreciate their body in all its iterations.
