The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) will construct three interchanges at Nyahururu turnoff, Njoro turnoff and Mau Summit along the Northern Corridor to ease traffic and reduce road accidents.
Intersections are also expected to open up business opportunities along the major highway and spur trade relations with the northern corridor landlocked countries.
“Construction of the interchanges which will feature Nyahururu turnoff overpass, the Njoro turnoff overpass and Mau Summit junction overpass bridge to be undertaken by China Railway Engineering Group Company Ltd at a cost of Sh2.6 billion,” said a statement from KeNHA.
Land acquisition is ongoing.
“Land for Mau Summit part of the project has already been purchased, with the Njoro section already gazetted and inquiries held to date,” said KeNHA. “The funding of the project has been sourced from the International Development Association and the Government.”
