Five signs of a committed relationship

Relationships

True love is a beautiful thing and when it happens, you will cherish the memories for the rest of your life.

During the first stages of attraction, your desire consumes you and all you do is think about your crush. You can’t sleep, you can’t stop smiling sheepishly and you are thinking life couldn’t get any better.

Amazing as it may sound, love isn’t always easy. You can’t be sure whether the other person feels the same way about you or if they want to commit, and worse still if they are unavailable.

A lot of people find it hard to express their feelings which keeps you guessing on whether they want to be with you or not.

Before investing emotionally and wasting your time on a person, you need to be on the same page. In this case, actions and words will speak louder.

Dating in the millennial era is not easy and you can never be sure with anything. You need solid indicators to remove any doubt that you’re both in whole heartedly.

Here are some sure signs you are in a committed relationship:

He has officially asked you to be his girlfriend

Let’s keep it real, how many scandals have we seen involving couples fighting because of cheating or betrayal then one partner comes out to say they weren’t in a relationship? Tons.

Just because he is spoiling you and taking you to exotic places to have sex does not mean you’re an item. Until you both have the conversation about being exclusive do not assume you are his girlfriend and vice versa.

It must be clearly stated and laid out to avoid any confusion and assumptions that may end up in pain and heartbreak.

You spend lots of time together

Considering how busy and hectic life has become this is one of the sure ways to know you’re in a committed relationship.

There is so much you could be doing during your free time like resting and catching up on sleep but you choose to spend it with your partner.

It has become ‘we’

When you’re in a relationship, naturally you will start using ‘we’ more than ‘I.’ You both start to see the world differently and make decisions for two rather than for yourself.

Before you know it, you are each other’s beneficiaries and you even co-sign contracts together. This and other major steps like buying a house together are great indicators that your partner is here to stay.

They’re interested in your life

If someone genuinely cares about you and claim to love you, they will be involved in your life and show interest in what you love.

No matter how scary it may be to them, you will find them getting out of their comfort zones to try the things you like to eat or do. This shows a high level of trust and respect they have for you.

They also make an effort to be a part of your life. They will avail themselves fully and enjoy the company of your friends and loved ones.

You have discussed the future

A good sign he or she is a ride or die is whether or not they are making future plans with you. If you have been in the relationship for a while now, talking about children, marriage and settling down should eventually come up.

Talking about it and taking the necessary steps towards it shows they have found a life partner in you and they want to be in it for the long term.
