Foods to help you knock off that hangover

Living

After a crazy night what do you expect?

Hangovers are caused by excessive drinking of alcohol. The symptoms include feeling fatigued, headache, nausea, getting sensitive to light, feeling dehydrated, and sometimes dizzy which lasts for hours. These are caused by changes in body chemistry, hormones, chemical reactions within the body, and the toxic chemicals in alcohol

There is no science of hangovers and its prevention thus leaving people with no option but to invent their own ways of curing them. As much as there is no one meal that cures hangovers, some foods help to refuel the body. Fluids and foods rich in nutrients like amino acids, fructose, minerals and amino acids helps to break down toxins.

Here are foods that will help you reduce the hangovers

1. Bananas

Usually, alcohol dehydrates the body and strips it of electrolytes, potassium and sodium.

Eating bananas in the morning comes handy in replacing potassium and the lost electrolytes and make you get over your hangover faster.

2. Eggs

Alcohol decreases the body’s store of glutathione, an antioxidant, and thus giving the body a hard time to break down the toxic by-products of alcohol metabolism.

Eggs contain a high dosage of amino acids like cysteine and taurine. Cysteine breaks down the chemicals that cause headache. The chemicals are produced when the liver breaks down the alcohol. Taurine, on the other side, helps to boost the normal liver functioning.

3. Yoghurt

It has pro- biotic properties which helps the body in digestion and maintenance of the ideal PH balance and removing any blot or stomach upsets that are brought about by hangovers.

4. Soup

A warm bowl of soup is ideal for curing hangovers. Always take a low sodium soup and make sure it has some vegetables in it. The soup helps rehydrate the body as the vegetables help in replacing nutrients lost to alcohol metabolism.

5.Fizzy drinks

You can take a glass of soda or drinks that do not have any caffeine. Caffeine works against getting better as it narrows the blood vessels and boosts blood pressure thus worsening your hangover. The drinks will also help you rehydrate faster.

What are you looking forward to in Life?
