Nairobians have been struggling having to deal with garbage menace in the city at some point even putting Governor Mike Sonko on the spot over his campaign pledge to clean up the city if elected.

Well, Nairobi County first lady, Primrose Mbuvi, has stepped in to assist in clearing the city county of garbage by dipping into her personal coffers to finance her Operation Ng’arisha Jiji campaign.

Governor Sonko was first to share the good news on his social media, posting photos of the county first lady driving a garbage truck during a cleanup exercise in Ruai.

Pushed by critics questioning if he had to bring in his wife to ensure he delivered on his campaign pledges, Sonko elucidated that his wife was financing the campaign from her own funds.

On her part, Mrs Mbuvi clarified that she volunteered to launch the operation and not that she is doing her husband’s work.

“I have volunteered to launch operation Ngarisha Jiji, not that Sonko is not able to do his job am volunteering to help in county cleaning. I have a team of experts that will help in garbage recycling, women should join and be empowered as this is a job opportunity that it is being created,” her post reads in part.
