3 ways to get on with your mother-in-law
1. Build a relationship with her. It sounds obvious, but so many disputes are the result of poor communication. See her on her own for lunch now and again – she’ll appreciate it and she won’t see you as a threat to her relationship with her child.
2. Get your partner involved. If there are any awkward discussions to be had with your mum-in-law, get your other half to do it. If she’s upset or angry about something, it won’t affect their relationship. But she might not feel the same if it comes from you.
3. It’s all about give and take. If she sees you’re willing to compromise on things, she’ll give a little, too, which all goes towards happier relationships.
