Four self-made female millionaires you should know about

Achieving Woman

Hard work pays, that’s for sure. And you have to put in the time and dedication before you can earn a net worth, worth mentioning.

When it comes to the top lists of millionaires, billionaires and so on, most people can quickly name famous people like Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg. It’s usually harder for most people to compose a list of even 30 women without having to think too hard or google some names, but, this doesn’t mean they’re not there.

Powerful women have been pushed to the back seat for a long time. However, in recent years society has come to appreciate the roles women play in the workforce.

Within that whole list of powerful women, some of the most appreciated are those that are self-made. They’ve had to work hard the traditional way without getting any push from inheritances.

This list is here to appreciate those that have worked their way to the top.

Dr. Mary Okello

When you hear the name Dr Mary Okello, you think of the Makini Schools empire. Makini is one of the most prestigious schools in Kenya and all that couldn’t have been possible without her.

Dr. Okello only recently sold the school but since it was formed, she has managed to maintain the good status of the schools. She acknowledges that it hasn’t been easy for her especially because she faced a lot of backlash in her career journey for simply being a woman.

Luckily, she didn’t let the hate put her down. She forged forward and was motivated to improve the quality of education in the country by starting the school.

Her impact is truly felt all over the world.

Simone Biles

The 23-year-old gymnast does not joke when it comes to her career. At such a young age, Simone Biles stunned the world with her award winning performances and now she can comfortably call herself one of the youngest millionaires in the world today.

When you see her infectious smile and her amazing performances, you can’t tell that she’s experienced a heartbreaking childhood. She was actually in the foster care system because her mom wasn’t able to take care of her and her other siblings due to drug addiction.

She knew she was at a disadvantage but she made a choice to do what she loved. She literally trained for up to 30 hours a week!

Simone has been vocal about adding hard work and dedication to the talent you already have.

Zhou Qunfei

Zhou Qunfei is a giant in the tech industry. Her company is probably the one that supplied the screens to the phones, laptops, smart watches and iPad you’re using right now.

This phenomenal woman’s story is an inspiration to many because she had a rough start initially. Zhou was born into a poor family and was actually the only one out of her other siblings who went to secondary school. Although she dropped out, she still had that go getter spirit in her.

Eventually, she courageously started off her first company and before she knew it, she was getting contracts with top mobile phone companies.

She always had that motivation to work hard and grab opportunities and that’s exactly what made her successful.

Rihanna

Everyone knows that Rihanna wasn’t born into wealth. She has a humble background in Barbados and her life wasn’t anything extra ordinary. In fact, she has talked about her tough childhood and the family struggles she went through. Her parent’s marriage was filled with addiction and marital problems which eventually led to a breakdown.

Her big breakthrough came when she began her music career. That was the beginning of her stardom and she used the fan base to branch into fashion, beauty and skin care.

She’s worked hard to solidify her name as a business woman and people genuinely love her quality products. At the rate at which she is bossing up, I’m 100% sure her net worth won’t slow down anytime soon.

International Literacy Day is coming up. When was the last time you read a book?
