Easy breakfast ideas to help you kick start your day

Healthy Eating

There is a reason why they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Sadly, priorities may overtake us and we’re forced out the door to start our days without a bite.

After hours of sleep, your body is literally on a fast and that is actually where the word breakfast comes from.

According to experts, your body needs essential nutrients in the morning to provide it with energy and calories to help it run. And usually, this should be eaten two hours from the time you wake up.

Like a car that cannot start with no fuel, your body cannot run on empty either.

There are so many reasons you shouldn’t skip breakfast and that by itself is another whole topic for another day.

Should time be an issue for you in the morning, you can always prepare simple recipes and carry to eat on the go.

Here are some ideas worth trying.

Fruit smoothies

What better meal replacement than a quick smoothie? Not only does it help with cravings but it also provides nutrients to your body and increase your fiber intake.

And it doesn’t take much time to prepare either. In a blender throw fresh and clean fruits, some yogurt if you want to thicken it, milk or fresh juice of your choice. It all depends on what you want.

Blend and ensure everything is well mixed and enjoy. You can chill it by adding some ice cubes and honey to sweeten it.

Toast and fruit combo

If you love bread like I do, give it a healthy kick with some fresh fruit. You can choose to toast it with some butter, apply some peanut butter or have it plain.

Cut some fresh bananas, strawberries or apples and place them on top. Do not be limited with what you can use. Berries work perfectly well too.

Scrambled eggs

Another favorite, eggs are healthy and can be quite filling depending on how you prepare them. All you have to do is beat a few eggs in a bowl, add salt and pepper.

In a frying pan, put a little oil and fry the eggs to how you like it. You can always throw in some veggies to make it tastier and healthier.

Overnight oats

Again, if time in the morning is a challenge, prepare a simple breakfast the night before. Due to its high fiber content oats will keep you full all morning.

And the best part is, there are a variety of ways you can prepare them. To prepare a five-minute healthy breakfast here is all you need to do.

Combine a cup of oats, two cups of unsweetened almond milk, a ripe mashed banana, ground cinnamon and a small pinch of salt to a small sauce pan and cook over medium heat.

Let it boil then reduce the heat to low and continually stir for a few minutes until it thickens. Serve.

Banana pancakes

We all love pancakes. But skip the sugar and replace with a natural sweetener like a banana. In a bowl, mash ripe bananas, stir in eggs, milk, baking powder and vanilla then mix well.

In a pan pour a few drops of oil and cook the pancakes in small batches. Best part is, it only takes a few minutes to prepare these sweet snacks.
