Kenya’s Covid-19 toll reached 3,308 on Monday, June 7 after 21 more people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.
The country also recorded 148 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, from a sample of 2,163 raising the country's caseload to 172,639.
In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the new infections take the country’s positivity rate to 6.8 per cent and cumulated tests conducted so far to 1,836,410.
Out of the new patients, 79 are male, whereas 69 are female, with the youngest carrier aged one, and the oldest aged 87.
Of the new cases, four are foreigners, while the rest were Kenyans.
Distribution
In terms of counties distribution, Nairobi recorded 48 cases, Homa Bay 46, Mombasa 8, Uasin Gishu 7, Machakos 6, Kisumu 5, Nakuru and Kiambu 4 cases each, Kilifi 3, Kajiado, Marasbit, Nandi and Tharaka Nithi 2 cases each, Narok Trans Nzoia, Kisii, Laikipia, Turkana, Baringo, Bomet, Busia and Embu a case each.
In terms of sub-county distribution, the 48 cases in Nairobi are from Embakasi West and Westlands (5) cases each, Embakasi North, Starehe and Kasarani (4) cases each, Dagoretti North, Embakasi Central, Mathare and Roysambu (3) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi East, Kamukunji, Langata and Makadara (2) cases, Embakasi South and Kibra (1) case each.
In Homa Bay, the 46 cases are from Homa Bay Town (24), Karachuonyo (8), Rachuonyo South (5), Rangwe (4), Ndhiwa (3) and Suba North (2) cases.
The total recoveries so far stand at 118,226 after 631 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours with 496 from the Home-Based and Isolation care programme while 135 are from various health facilities in the country.
Of the total recoveries, 85,892 are from the Home Based Isolation Care programme while 32,334 are from various hospitals countrywide.
A total of 1,447 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 4,802 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
One hundred and two (102) patients are in the ICU, 26 of whom are on ventilatory support and 60 on supplemental oxygen. Sixteen (16) patients are on observation.
Another 95 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 88 of them in general wards and seven (7) in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Vaccination
Kenya has as of today, vaccinated 975,835 against the Covid-19 disease countrywide.
Of these 295,660 are aged 58 years and above, others stand at 277, 953 while health workers so far vaccinated are 166,304.
So far 153, 145 teachers have been vaccinated while security officers are 82, 773.
In the second dose, 13,194 have received their doses of which 6,337 are health workers, 1,161 teachers and 714 security officers.
The number of those aged 58 years and above who have received the second dose stands at 2,411, while the others stand at 2,575.
