Covid-19: Six succumb as Kenya records 226 new cases

Kenya has recorded 226 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours raising the country's total caseload to 103, 841.

In a statement sent to media houses by the Ministry of Health on Friday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe (pictured) said the new cases are from 4,606 samples which push the country's cumulative tests to 1,258,624.

In terms of gender, 132 are male and 94 are female while the youngest case is two-year-old and the oldest is aged 98.

Of the new cases, 165 are Kenyans while 61 are foreigners.

On a positive note, the country's total recoveries rose to 85,512 after 75 patients recovered from Covid-19 among them 49 from home-based care programme while 26 from various hospitals.

Sadly, six people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours with Kenya’s fatalities since March rising to 1,813.

A total of 333 are admitted to various health facilities while 1,150 are in Home-based Isolation.

Forty-nine (49) patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of which 21 are on ventilatory support.

Separately, another nine (9) patients are in the supplementary Oxygen, out of which eight (8) are in the general wards while one patient is in HDU.
