Pupils to get milk in a health initiative
The county First Ladies Association in partnership with Non-communicable Diseases Alliance will roll out a milk programme for pupils in three counties.
The counties are Makueni, West Pokot and Garissa.
The pilot programme targets pupils in the arid and semi counties where they are likely to suffer from non-communicable diseases as a result of poverty.
Announcing the move, Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana's wife Nazi Kibwana, said the initiative was geared towards eradication of non-communicable diseases.
Ms Nazi is the chairlady of the First Ladies Association. She was speaking during a head teachers meeting at Makueni Boys.
Damaris Makau, Makueni County Education, and ICT Chief Officer said already a stakeholders meeting with various school heads had been carried out to pick the most affected schools.
