The Government has launched the second phase of Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) strategy targeting over a million men in the next five years as well as infants below 60 days of age.
The launch of a clinical manual on Early Infant Male Circumcision alongside other health interventions will see infants and adolescents access male circumcision services in selected public health facilities.
Speaking during the launch yesterday in Kisumu, the Parliamentary Health Committee for Health led by Paul Koinange said the intervention will limit HIV/Aids risk among boys who grow into adulthood.
“To realise this, we will employ strategies that focus on traditionally non-circumcising communities, with an age appropriate package of VMMC, while promoting access to safe male circumcision practises among them,” he said.
