Kenya showed little mercy for neighbours Uganda when they demolished them in the second match of the international cricket three 50-over series at the Mombasa Sports Club.

Kenya has taken a 2-0 lead after winning their first match on Wednesday at the same venue by 85 runs.

In Friday’s match, Kenya handed the Ugandans a 94 runs beating.

The homeboys had won the toss and decided to bat setting a 304 for four in 50 overs after lunchtime.

Kenya batsman David Obuya pushed the score before Hamza Saleeh caught him in the 31st over with 74 runs on the board. Alex Obanda was the man-of-the-match after he hit 100 runs off 111 balls before Davis Karashani sent him back to the pavilion in the 37th over. Jonathan Sabanja caught Tanmay Mishra in the 41st over with 15 runs after Charles Waiswa bowled him.

Chasing the target, Uganda’s wicket fell easily and it was in the third over when Mukasa was caught behind by David Obuya after Nehemiah Odhiambo had bowled him with 23 runs.

Uganda’s highest scorer was Lawrence Sematiba who had 57 runs before Hiren Varaiya legged him before in the 40th over.

Kenya’s captain Jimmy Kamande ended the day for the Uganda’s when he bowled and caught Arnold Otwani in the 46th over with a paltry nine runs.

Varaiya took three for 41 while Kamande had three for 31.

The two teams take a break today before they complete their series tomorrow at the same venue.

The Kenyan women beat Zimbabwe by 38 runs at Nairobi Gymkhana in an ICC African Women World Cup qualifier. Kenya scored 149 all out, thanks to Sarah Bhakitsa’s 27/3. Zimbabwe wilted at 111.

Kenya play South Africa today to decide who will qualify for the 2011 World Cup to be staged in Argentina.

The Kenyan women recovered after almost boycotting the tournament.
