A woman charged with infecting an infant with HIV was yesterday granted bond.
The suspect, a neighbour, is alleged to have breastfed the nine-month-old baby at Gichobo in Njoro on September 18. She has denied the charges.
Last week, the prosecution had asked the court for more time to conclude investigations as well as present an application to collect blood samples from the accused. This was after the court had ordered the State counsel to say whether the charges would be amended.
Senior Principal Magistrate Joe Omido gave the woman a Sh50, 000 bond and surety of the same amount. The case will be mentioned on November 5.
