Kenya reports no Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours

Kenya has reported no Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

Therefore, the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,325.

As of yesterday, a total of 6,245,698 vaccines had so far been administered across the country.

Of these, 3,944,709 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 2,300,989.

He said the total vaccines received to date are 10,140,210.

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 54.8 per cent. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 8.4 per cent.

Nairobi county is in the lead with 23.8 per cent of the population fully vaccinated followed by Nyeri at 19.8 per cent, Kiambu 14.3, Taita Taveta, and Laikipia 11.5, Nyandarua 10.9, and Uasin Gishu 10.1.

On the Covid-19 situation today, 88 people have tested positive for the disease, from a sample size of 4,681 tested in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate is now at 1.9 per cent. Of the cases, 87 are Kenyans and one foreigner. Sixty-eight are men and 20 are women. The youngest is a two-year-old child while the oldest is 84 years.

The total confirmed positive cases are now 254,541 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,785,672.

In terms of county distribution, Bungoma led with 43, followed by Mombasa 7, Nairobi 6, Busia 6, Kakamega 5, Makueni 5, Nakuru 5, Kericho 3, Nandi 1, Narok 1, Nyeri 1, Turkana 1, Uasin Gishu 1, West Pokot 1, Baringo 1 and Homa Bay 1.

Today 26 patients have recovered from the disease with 20 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care programme, while six are from health facilities countrywide.

The total recoveries now stand at 247,817 of whom 200,160 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation programme, while 47,657 are from various health facilities countrywide.

A total of 364 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 997 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care programme. Twenty-three patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 10 of whom are on ventilatory support and 13 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.

Another 115 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 113 of them are in the general wards. Two patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
