Covid-19 positivity rate drops to 6.5 per cent as 20 die

Another 531 people have tested positive for the coronavirus today, from a 8,154 sample size conducted in the last 24 hours.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe (pictured) said this puts the country’s positivity rate at 6.5 per cent.

There are now 185,591 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 1,978,155 tests conducted since the onset of the disease last year.

Some two hundred and seventy-six patients have also recovered from the disease.

According to Kagwe, one hundred and fifty-one were discharged from the Home-Based and Isolation Care program while one hundred and twenty-five were discharged from various health facilities.

Total recoveries now stand at 126,956.

Twenty patients have died of Covid-19, all being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits on diverse dates in the months of June and July.

Kenya’s coronavirus death toll is now 3,671.

1,144 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities, while 5,785 patients are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 

Kenya has so far administered 1,468,908 vaccines; first doses being 1,016,190 while second doses are 452,718.
