Covid-19: 325 news cases as two succumb to virus

Kenya has recorded 325 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours raising the country's total caseload to 105,973.

In a statement sent to media houses by the Ministry of Health on Sunday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe (pictured) said the new cases are from 3,282 samples which push the country's cumulative tests to 1,298, 838.

In terms of gender, 245 are male and 80 are female while the youngest case is one-year-old and the oldest is aged 85.

Of the new cases, 296 are Kenyans while 29 are foreigners.

On a positive note, 69 patients recovered with 58 from the home-based care programme while 11 were discharged from various hospitals bringing the total number of recoveries to 86, 678.

However, Kagwe said two (2) patients have succumbed to the disease bringing Kenya’s fatalities since March to 1,856.

A total of 347 are admitted to various health facilities while 1,495 are in Home-based Isolation.

Fifty-eight patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of which 26 are on ventilatory support while 28 are on supplemental oxygen.

Separately, another 15 patients are in the supplementary Oxygen, of whom 14 are general wards while one is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Distribution

In counties’ distribution, Nairobi leads with 207, Busia 30, Mombasa 21, Machakos 14, Kiambu 11, and Kajiado 9.

In Nairobi’s sub-counties, the 86 cases in Nairobi were from Starehe (48), Westlands (9), Dagoretti North (7), Kibra (3), Embakasi Central (39) Dagoretti North (20), Westlands (17), Starehe (15), Kibra (14) Langata and Ruaraka (13) cases each, Kasarani (12), Embakasi South (11), Embakasi Est (10), Embakasi West (9), Embakasi North, Makadara and Mathare (7) cases each, Kamukunji and Royisambu (5) cases

Uasin Gishu 5, Garissa 5, Nakuru 4, Meru 4, Tharaka Nnithi 4, Murang'a 2, and Kericho 2.

Kirinyaga, Makueni, Migori, Narok, Kakmega, Bungoma and West Pokot had single cases each.
