Esther Arunga admitted she lied to police

In a saga that continues to leave many bewildered, it has emerged that Esther Arunga deliberately protected her husband Quincy Timberlake who is facing charges for the murder of their son.

In an autopsy report, it was found that three-year-old Sinclair Timberlake, who his mother reported as having fallen down the stairs, had suffered from blunt force trauma to the abdomen.

When asked why she didn’t say the truth earlier, Ms Arunga claimed that she was afraid of being left alone. “I felt terrible because my husband was sick as well,” she confessed. She waited until her husband was taken for a mental evaluation to speak up.

Her lawyer added, “She had not realised how unwell he was until the night of her son’s death.”

During the trial, a friend of the family, Christina Carroll, revealed that at one time, she had seen straight line cuts on Sinclair’s forehead. This was after the family returned to Australia after visiting Timberlake in Singapore.

When she asked Arunga about their origin, she had claimed he had fallen down the stairs. “To me, it looked like he’d been cut with a razor,” she explained, adding, “She [Arunga] talked about voodoo and other occult stuff.”

Of Timberlake Deborah Stanley told the court, “He was swearing at me, yelling at me, calling me names and telling me that I was trying to turn his wife against him.

“He said that Esther was under his control and she would do whatever he would say."

 Arunga is awaiting sentencing

On the fateful night, emergency paramedics tried to resuscitate Sinclair only for him to succumb to his injuries. He died on his bedroom floor.

Arunga, a former KTN anchor, pleaded guilty to being an accessory to murder and will be sentenced on Thursday.
