Shenanigans of a teenage baby sitter

Last week, I introduced you to one Stella. Stella is my temporary care-free house help who is filling in for my Mwende who is on a well-deserved Christmas break. As I wrote, Stella who has just cleared her KCSE, has a heart of gold, loves babies to death, but house work is not her cup of coffee.

It is now more than one week that she has been looking after Tasha and Troy and it has been an experience. First, she has slowly turned my daughter into a fashionista. Stella is a good-looking young girl and she loves looking good whether she is sleeping or just lazing around. Other than taking care of my kids and being online, her other pass time is sprucing up her make-up.

And she has been generous enough to enroll my daughter in her beauty school and now all Tasha eats and breathes is make-up.

"Mummy don't forget to buy for me a red lip stick and an eye liner like Stella's," she told me the other day as I left for work.

Previously, she would ask for the usual kiddy stuff like snacks and toys, but now we are talking Mac Foundation.

Now thanks to Stella, baby girl, has dumped her pink flowery princess dresses, and is now doing more leggings, dress tops and boots. Stella has even been kind enough to donate to her the outfits that she has outgrown. And baby girl loves her new look.

"Mum, please stop buying for me those boring Cinderella clothes. Stella says they ain't cool," that is the thank you I got recently when I gave her her the new Christmas dress that I had bought at a tidy sum.

Did you also notice her language has changed? We are now using cool words like 'ain't'. Ain't that cool? Oops, I'm catching the fever!

And have I mentioned to you the tricks Stella has embraced to help her manage my 'large' house hold? Her pack of girlfriends. Realising that there was too much work in the house, Stella the queen bee, called her power puff girls to come help her "baby sit my neighbour's cute kids."

Using her ingenious mind, she has 'employed' her four friends in my house.

"Mama Tasha, Steph does the dishes, Dee does the laundry, Awish tidies the house and Njesh makes the food. I take care of the babies and make them laugh," that's the explanation she gave me the first day I found her with her buddies at the house.

"And how much do you pay your employees?" I teased as I admired the super-clean house.

"Free Wi-Fi, loads of pop corn and catching up with the Kardashians." I love this girl.
