It has been a day of highs and lows as Kenyans wait for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to announce the presidential election results.

The IEBC had circulated a media invite asking for press coverage at 3pm. However, by 3:15pm, no announcement had been made and our journalists were informed the time had been moved to 4pm.

By 1pm, two of the presidential candidates - George Wajackoyah of Roots Party and Agano's David Mwaure had already taken to their seats at the Bomas auditorium which has been the national tallying centre for the last six days.

Ruto leaves Karen home for Bomas

By 3pm, Kenya Kwanza's presidential candidate William Ruto and his wife Rachel Ruto had arrived at the Bomas of Kenya. He arrived in a convoy of cars and police outriders.

Not much has been heard from Azimio la Umoja candidate Raila Odinga apart from a tweet by his running mate. "All ready for Bomas," Martha Karua tweeted.

The verification of results forms came to an end on Monday morning with the IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati expected to declare the results of the August 9 polls today.

The national tallying centre, Bomas of Kenya, is under tight security with police drawn from multi-agencies.
