Professor Halimu Shauri, a sociologist says a look at the psychology behind married men visiting prostitutes and seemingly risk everything in the process is still undefined.
Professor Shauri also says that the need by men to go out and have sex with other women is also borne out of the need to dominate.
"Men are sadistic by nature, they usually want to punish a woman during sex, and they can't punish their wives by subjecting them extreme sexual positions or rough sex, so they go out to find a person who is willing to satisfy the man's fantasy, for a fee. That's why prostitution can't end. Prostitutes do what mama watoto can't do, and Men respect mama watoto so they can't do wheelbarrow style with her" asserts the don.
University of Nairobi Sociologist Ken Ouko says one area that has been under-researched is on sexuality, and it is because, in African culture, sexuality and sexual satisfaction is considered a taboo. "As I speak, we don't know how many times a man is supposed to have sex in a month on average.
So adults who are involved in sexual relations don't even know their roles when it comes to sexual satisfaction as husband or wife" says the don adding that there is a psychological variance between paid sex and other types of unfaithfulness. Visiting a brothel is always solely for the sex. There is no conquest, or satisfying your ego, it is just but business transaction."
He says in Europe, it has been researched and it is well known that a woman should have sex seven times in a month and men should have it six times. "Going by those figures, it shows you people in Kenya are under sexed. Married people maybe do it to or three times in a month, and that creates opportunity for men to go out there and get satisfied."
The don says the myth that men are polygamous by nature is simply stereotypical and has no scientific bearing. He also adds that most men will generally perform better with women they sleep with outside their normal routine. "There is the need to prove to the new catch how good you are, but with mama watoto, there is familiarity, and you know you can always get it tomorrow or the next day" says Ouko.
