The Kenya Power says Nairobi, Coast and Mt. Kenya regions are experiencing outage due to technical glitch affecting its distribution systems.
The power firm further says that restoration efforts are underway.
"At 11:09am today (Wednesday, November 2), we lost power supply due to a system disturbance, affecting parts of Nairobi, Coast and Mt Kenya regions," said the Kenya Power in a press statement.
"We are working, in collaboration with other sector players, to restore the power supply as soon as possible. An update on the restoration progress will be issued in due course. We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused," added the power firm.
The areas affected by the Wednesday outage include Nairobi, Mombasa, Busia, Kakamega, Kiambu, Makueni, Nakuru, Nyandarua, Kilifi, Kajiado, Machakos, Garissa and Eldoret.
Most of the affected areas confirmed interruption at around 9am on Wednesday, November 2.
Kenya Power had, on Tuesday, November 1, said that there would be outage in Kangemi and Kileleshwa areas of Nairobi County on Wednesday, November 2.
The blackout, according to the Kenya Power, would last between 9am and 5pm.
Other areas are Kalama in Machakos County, Boro Market and Uradi in Siaya County, Uriri, Bware and Oyani in Migori County and Bamburi in Mombasa County.
The company said the power equipment in the mentioned areas would be undergoing maintenance during the interruption.
