Last Friday night at about 11pm DJ Protégé was arrested and his sound equipment confiscated at Brew Bistro, Ngong’ Road by Nema officers who came with Administration police accusing him of playing music that was too loud and exceeding the normal standard required by Nema
After the arrest, the turntables was taken on a ‘road trip’ through Umoja, Donholm and Jogoo road, witnessing various Kenyans being arrested in bars that were not licensed as others escaped the night check by the officers.
Reports have it that Protégé was later taken to Central Police Station late in the night where he stayed until morning, when he was finally bailed out by the club. Despite everything his music laptop has been kept by Nema for court case in the week.
Both DJ Protégé and Brew Bistro confirmed the incident and by the time we were going to press, they informed us that Nema had withdrawn the charges and had even given back the confiscated equipment.
