A senior manager at a ceramics company has been arraigned in court for allegedly insulting her co-wife that she was a black monkey.
Sidja Khan, 30, allegedly sent a text to Yvonne Pauline Yonga with the message: “U black monkey keep off my kids”, among other texts interpreted to be grossly abusive, on February 29.
The court heard that the accused, who is a co-wife of the complainant, has not been in good terms with their husband for months now.
According to the prosecution, the husband secured court orders to be with Khan’s children during weekends.
It is reported that the husband had picked the kids on February 26 for a weekend outing in Kisumu. Angered, the accused allegedly turned the heat on Yvonne who lives with their husband.
Police said Khan went to Yvonne’s house the night of February 27 and banged the door until late. The husband returned the kids to Khan’s house on February 28 and the abusive texts followed.
Khan denied the charges and was released on a Sh10,000 bond. The case will be heard on September 2.
