Choose wisely the doors you walk through

In scripture, doors are metaphors that signify important things in one’s life. “And to the Angel of the church in Philadelphia write; these things he says he who is holy, true, has the key of David, opens and no one shuts and shuts and no one opens. I know your work. See I have set before you an open door and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept my word and not denied my name” (Revelation 3:7-8).

God delights in opening doors for us but he also shuts some doors. In opening doors just like in prayers; God can say yes, no or wait. We have many doors in the form of salvation, destruction, Satan, opportunity, ministry, missions and the bible or heaven and all of them depend on the choices we make. Doors in your life signify welcome or rejection; entry or exit; and opportunity granted or denied.

God is holy, and true and has the key of David or authority to open doors that no one can shut, and those that he shuts no one can open. The difference between those who have made it in life and those who have not; is that their doors have been opened.

Sometimes you have been tested, waited for so long and have grown weary and tired both spiritually and physically. This is the moment that the door opens. When God opens a door, he does not show you everything rather, just a glimpse then he opens it bit by bit.

The reasons are; one, the vision is too big and he wants you to be ready and grow into it and two, he wants you to rely on him. “For the vision is for an appointed time; but at the end, it will speak and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come. It will not tally” (Habakkuk 2:3).

Doors speak of opportunities. A great and effective door has been opened for us but there are many adversaries and hindrances. Any door that contradicts the Word of God is not of God. Always have a plan as you wait for the door to open - Nehemiah had a plan to rebuild Judah before he requested king.

Greatness occurs when opportunity collides with preparedness! Note that people will ridicule/scorn you and try to delay you with meaningless/useless engagements as you enter your door. Doors will cost you something.

Learn to discern doors that God has opened for you because every door you walk into will cost you time, finances, relationships, partnerships or even your life. Count the cost before you enter into any open door.

God shuts some doors to prepare, caution, preserve, and protect from harm, destruction and danger because they are not good for you. Do not cry over or bang on or try to open a door that he has shut. It is very easy to walk into the wrong door but not easy to walk out of it; it takes the grace of God.

God is a generous giver and will open for you doors if you open doors for others. Sow what you want to reap! Give your time, finances, material things, and service and be hospitable to others. Job in the Bible observed that he had never turned away a stranger but opened doors to everyone in need. And God blessed him with great wealth and many children. A generous person will be blessed with wealth, and whoever refreshes others will be refreshed too. “The generous soul will also be made rich. And he who waters will also be watered himself” (Proverbs 11:25).

To discern God’s doors, you will need the knowledge to determine who has opened them and then make the right decision or choice. In addition, you will need courage, which is doing the right thing even when you are afraid. Remember that God is with you and act by walking courageously into the right door.

Every door is a point of decision or choice. Your destiny is not based on circumstances but on the choices you make. You are not meant to walk in every door that is open because not every open door is of God.
