In these modern days, dating comes in different forms. Many couples who have built successful relationships have actually met through social media, blind dates and other modern forms of dating.
Traditionally it was all about meeting someone face to face and gradually forming a bond but now, things have changed.
When it comes to blind dating, many people are still scared and hesitant of trying it out. That is because it is hard to imagine that going on a date with someone you don’t really know can lead to anything long-term but more people are open to the idea.
If you have a blind date coming up and you need some tips, here are five things you should know:
- Prioritize your safety
It’s exciting to meet a potential soulmate but there are some risks that come with blind dating. That is why first thing you need to consider is your safety.
You need to meet somewhere public where you are comfortable and let others know where you are going in case of anything.

This will also help you feel more relaxed during your date because you will have a backup plan ready.
- Go somewhere exciting
Now that you are clear on meeting somewhere public, you should plan to meet somewhere where you can bond over some fun activities.
It’s okay if you are thinking of just going for a lunch date but this setting can make you more nervous when you are meeting someone for the first time.
If you can, do something interesting like bowling so you can still get to know each other in a less tense environment.

- Have an open mind
The biggest question that comes to mind when going on such dates is, ‘are they my type?’
This is part of the reason why people avoid blind dates because what if you’re not attracted to them at all?
It’s important to be with someone you are attracted to but it doesn’t have to be the only quality you are looking for.
Manage your expectations and don’t immediately shut them out if you are not attracted to their looks. Take time to know who they are on a deeper level because they might be the perfect match for you.
- Be yourself
First impressions are everything especially when it comes to blind dating. You both don’t really know each other and you both want to be the best versions of yourself when you first meet.
I think that the only way to know if your bond is genuine is by being yourselves. There is no need try too hard to impress someone else because eventually the mask will fall off.
Go on this date as the real you and see whether they appreciate you for who you are.
- Keep it friendly
Going on this date doesn’t mean that it has to lead to a relationship. There is a lot of pressure to find your future bae which can block you from building a natural connection.
Don’t be so focused on having a romantic bond. Let things flow and if you are better off as good friends, that works too.
