Your life begins at the age you want it to, it's a choice

Growing older has taught me to believe in myself. When I was younger I would let people’s opinion influence what I do.

These days I don’t pay too much attention to people who tell me I can’t do it or people with negative mindsets. I rely on the belief that when I set my mind on something I will achieve it.

I believe that a woman is as old as she feels. You can be 50 and feel young and be 20 and feel old. As they say, age is nothing but a number.

I am looking forward to achieving all the dreams I had wanted to achieve when I was in my 20s. I hope to build a formidable empire consisting of a wig shop, fashion house and beauty stores.

I see young people in their 20s living their dream houses and their businesses thriving and becoming big brands. Those are things I want to achieve now.

A little late but I believe everyone has their journey and this is mine. My life is now just starting so it is true what they say that life does indeed begin at 40.

I would describe my style as chic and classy. I have always loved looking good. I remember in primary school always wanting to look nice and stand out.

As a mother of two teenage boys, I still insist on looking good because I believe once I look good I feel good.

I have learned to surround myself with people who have positive vibes. People who encourage and uplift me. People I can look up to.

I have less than five genuine friends who I bond with and do life with. I have always maintained a small group of friends, even when I was younger.

My skincare routine involves taking a lot of water, exfoliating and steaming twice a month. Because I apply makeup daily, I make sure to remove it with Micellar water and then use Oil of Olay to moisturise.

For my body, I use raw Shea butter and body lotion. My go-to hairstyle when I want to look good is wigs. I wear my own brand; the Divine Hair International Ke. To maintain the look, I do weekly washes and treatment.

I try to eat healthy. I have to eat fruits every day. For exercise, I do some home workouts but I think good genes play a big role in how I look.

Positivity is key for me. To keep a positive mindset, I meditate every morning. It clears my mind from stress. I also read inspirational books and love encouraging and motivating women.

The dream is to have a talk show on the same. To nourish my soul, I do a lot of praying, fasting and reading the bible.

My advice to younger women? Never give up, avoid negativity and have faith. Sometimes you may think you are making the right choice but it ends up being the wrong one. You don’t have to give up though. Keep pushing through it will work out in the end.
