Every day we wake up we must make decisions from what to wear, what to eat, who to talk to and many more. Then there are those monumental decisions we must make like what career to pursue, where to live, whether or not to have kids and the list is endless.

Life is full of unexpected twists and turns that require us to be witty on our feet and steady with our decision making skills. And sometimes, whether you choose not to make a decision, that in itself is a decision you made.

So, either way, you must make one. In which case, you should always make it count.

Making difficult decisions may be scary sometimes considering the impact and consequences it may have on our lives.

However, should you be in a scenario where you need to make a difficult decision here are a few tips worth looking into to help you make wise choices:

  • Talk to someone

If you need some clarity and advice on what to do, sometimes it is a good idea to talk to a spouse, family member or expert to help you identify the pros and cons of what you are about to do.

Hearing yourself share that problem may also help you reflect on what you’re saying and open your mind to see things in a certain way. Before you know it, you will have reached a decision.

  • Factor in the implications

If you’re struggling to make a decision for fear of making the wrong one, you must ask yourself whether or not you will be happy with that choice a year down the line.

Small things really shouldn’t have you scratching your head and don’t allow yourself to get caught up in delaying to make decisions when it comes to the tough ones.

Bite the bullet and move on.

If you have a strong relationship with God, praying is the best decision you can make. Ask for guidance and you will be amazed at how things will fall into place.

If there is some time before you must make the decision, pray and fast. Stay calm and let God take the wheel as you focus on other aspects of your life.

  • Follow your instincts

Have you ever been in a position where something deep down told you to carry an umbrella only for you to ignore it then it seriously rains? Well, that’s because you ignored your intuition.

It is always right in most cases if not all.

Listening to your instincts when faced with a tough decision is one of the best things to do especially if you are in tune with yourself.

If you feel uncertain, scared, unsettled or a pit in your stomach regarding a certain matter, the answer is a ‘no.’ But when you can’t stop feeling excited and hopeful thinking about it, go with a ‘yes.’

  • Test it

There are certain instances where you can test the situation first before committing. If that is your case, do that. If it means traveling to another city where you are considering to relocate to, schedule a visit first and see how you feel about it.
