Infertility is a great challenge as it proves it nearly impossible to conceive and carry a child to term. It comes as a result of a number of causes. There are also some risk factors that heighten your chances of going down the infertility road.

Smoking

Smoking damages your cervix and fallopian tubes. When you are smoking, it increases your risk of miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy. Experts mention that your ovaries may age and the premature depletion of your eggs will occur, raising your stakes of infertility.

Alcohol

A high intake of alcohol isn't healthy for women. It is a great factor for infertility, let alone affecting the growth of an embryo.

Weight

If you are overweight or significantly underweight, you may face fertility challenges. All this factors may affect normal ovulation. Your period may either be irregular, late or nonexistent for a while. Getting to a healthy body mass index (BMI) may increase the frequency of ovulation and likelihood of pregnancy.

Age

The question of age may be a sensitive one to many. In truth, the quality and quantity of a woman's eggs begin to decline with increasing age. When you are in the mid-30s, the rate of follicle loss speeds, resulting in fewer and poorer quality eggs. This makes conception more difficult, and increases the risk of miscarriage.

Sexual history

Chlamydia and gonorrhea can damage the fallopian tubes. Such sexually transmitted diseases become a nightmare if left untreated. Having unprotected intercourse with multiple partners increases your risk of a sexually transmitted infection that may cause fertility problems later.`

What is worse: a fake smile or a grumpy face?
