The fertility diet was developed after an eight-year study on 18,000 women. It follows 10 evidence-backed suggestions.

It won’t work if infertility is due to physical impediments like blocked fallopian tubes but it has been proven to reverse and prevent ovulatory infertility, a common cause of infertility. Still, it is advised to consult your doctor to check the cause of your infertility.

Cut out trans fats. A Harvard study established that women who had ovulation related infertility tended to have high levels of trans fats in their diet. These are fats in pizzas, pastries and fast food among others.

Use more unsaturated vegetable oils to reduce body’s inflammation and increase insulin sensitivity. This boosts immunity.

Ditch skim and low fat dairy. Go for whole milk and full fat dairy

More vegetable protein, less meat

Eat carbs, the slow release carbs. These are fruits, beans, veggies and whole grain products.

Get some extra folic acid. Eat more cereals, spinach, beans and citrus foods.

Load up on plant iron.  Iron from plant sources promotes fertility. These are foods like whole-grain cereals, spinach, beans, pumpkin, tomatoes, and beets.

Drink water. Coffee, tea and alcohol in moderation but stay away from sodas.

Keep your body mass index between 20 and 24. Being underweight or overweight will reduce fertility.

Just enough exercise. Too much of it will mess with ovulation and too little will affect your weight.
