FIRST DATE
Brian: We met in 2003 in the office and we went out two months after our first encounter. I was busy looking for some documents when I suddenly set my eyes on her. For a moment, my heart skipped a beat and at that point I knew she was the one for me. I even confided in one of my workmates about my feelings towards the stranger (her). Before I even talked to her, I knew I wanted her to be my wife.
Joy: I was an intern then but when our eyes met for the first time, I became speechless and wondered how on earth I was to share office with such a handsome guy. He had a presence that I admired and I secretly told my heart that one day I would get the chance to be his girlfriend and like they say the rest is history.
THE PROPOSAL
Brian: Eight months after we started dating, I proposed to her in Mombasa during one of our trips. I bought the engagement ring a week before the trip and waited in anticipation to pop the big question. She was surprised and overwhelmed the moment I popped the question.
Joy: It was an amazing feeling, knowing that someone special wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. For a moment I was lost for words. Indeed, it was a great honour.
THE DRAMA
Brian: First we had three months only to plan for the wedding and it was such a challenge. During this period we had a fair share of our ups and downs.
Joy: We had enough fights during the planning process but I thank God we managed to solve them and still be the happy we wanted to be.
WITH HINDSIGHT
Brian: Team work is the best policy. It has helped us make great strides in life.
Joy: Team work, communication and respect. We need to give each other the respect that we deserve. Only then will you be happy.

ADVICE TO COUPLES
Brian: Take time to plan for a wedding even if it means doing it a year in advance. Involve your parents, family and friends as they are key in providing tremendous support.
Joy: It is important to start planning early. This gives you a head start and it's easier to make decisions without doing things in a rush. Remember to submit everything to God in prayer.
Brian: Marriage is the beginning of a tedious journey together as husband and wife. So as we journey on, prayers, love, honesty, trust and communication should always prevail.
Joy: Communication in marriage is important. It's the only way you'll get to understand what your partner feels. You also need to pray for each other and pray for your marriage.
