Seven budget friendly date ideas

Relationships

Meeting someone new comes with the constant need to impress whether it is with your dressing or where you go for a date. New couples are always looking to impress each other, however, this comes at a price. The expensive dates at five star hotels can easily be replaced by fun and less costly dates that both parties will enjoy.

Thinking outside the box and coming up with fun date ideas whether indoors or outdoors goes a long way. You could go for a walk, or have a candlelit dinner at home. Here are some budget friendly tips that will help you spice up your date ideas

Hiking at Ngong Hills

Going for a hike can be challenging and relaxing at the same time. Depending on the trails you take, hiking can help you build a bond by helping each other get to the end of the walk.

At the Ngong Hills, apart from hiking, you can also try other fun outdoor activities such as zip lining. The scenic view will also give you the chance to watch the sunset while at the top of the hills as you take beautiful photos next to the wind turbines.

Take painting classes

Going to a restaurant all the time can get boring with time. Try and get in touch with your creative side by taking painting classes together. This can be done at the park as you try to boost your creativity or in a class while sipping a glass of wine. This will bring some playfulness into your lives by involving your partner in the fun activities you want to do. If there are no painting classes near you, you can turn each other into adult paint books and bring out the hidden child in the both of you.

Go for a picnic at Arboretum or Oloolua nature trail

Going for picnics is one of the oldest most affordable date ideas. Picnics only need a basket full of snacks, drinks, a blanket and a speaker if you are both interested in playing some music. This will not cost you an arm and a leg. You can make food at home and carry to the picnic and surprise your date with your cooking skills as you have a good conversation watching birds and enjoying a good time together.

Visit the Nairobi National Park

You may both live in the city but have never been to the park. Take some time on a weekend afternoon, go for a drive and enjoy the scenic routes at the world famous park. This will help you unwind from a long week at work and you could both get to talk about how your weeks have been.

A trip to the park will also be a chance to see different types of animals and see the city from a different view. You can always plan your visit around a time that is convenient for both of you so that you both fully unwind.

Visit the Kenya National Archives

Unknown to many, one of the most popular landmarks and meeting spots in Nairobi, the Kenya National Archives, is a historical site that is open to the public. The National Archives was established in 1965 has over 40,000 public records. If you both have an interest in history, you can visit the archives and dig deep into the historical events that have always fascinated you.

Go cycling at Karura Forest

You could go cycling at Karura forest and use this as a time to exercise together as you gauge each other’s limits. You could take part of small races amongst you and see who comes first.

The biking trails will take you through a serene environment with trees that are years old and streams of fresh clean water and a waterfall where you can both stop and rest for a few minutes while taking pictures.

Go to Nairobi National Museum

If you both have a soft spot for history, a trip to the national museums could be one of the best dates for you. At the museum, you could both learn more about the history of Kenya and about different cultures that will bring out new and different facts you both did not know. You could also get a few souvenirs for each other. You can also find other areas around town equipped with some history. A visit to educational centers and other tourist attractions that you have not been to is also a good idea.
