A bride has revealed the drastic decision she made that has put a damper on her wedding - but people think she did the right thing
On her wedding day, a bride is bound to be feeling a little on edge.
After months of rigorous planning, everything they've been dreaming of is finally happening and it's only natural that they'd want everything to run smoothly.
They might have a wedding planner on hand to help ensure that nothing can possibly go wrong on the big day, but sometimes it's only the bride who can take matters into her own hands and fix a problem.
This was the situation one woman found herself in when her wedding planner failed to resolve a sticky situation at her reception.
In a post on Reddit, the unnamed bride revealed all the details and asked whether people thought she had done the right thing in the end.
So what was it that she did?
The woman kicked a couple out of her reception because they brought their children along with them and she didn't want little ones spoiling her big day.
She explained: "This couple I'm not very close with but the wife is a long-time family friend so I felt that I should invite her.
"To be clear all of my wedding invitations stated that there will be no children at this wedding, but she and her husband showed up with their infant and toddler.
"At the actual wedding ceremony, I let it slide. I was preoccupied for obvious reasons. I also thought that maybe they planned not to attend the reception or to have someone pick the kids up before it started.
She continued: "Anyway the reception rolls around, the couple comes and, lo and behold, they still have their children.
"I had many other guests and didn't really feel like dealing with it so I asked our event planner to go over to them and discuss whether someone was picking the children up as the reception was not supposed to have children - everyone was drinking and loud and rowdy and a crying child and another little one running around was not part of the plan."
The woman claims the couple then began arguing with the wedding planner, so she stepped in to handle the situation.
"I think they thought I came to rescue them," she admitted. "They started going on about how rude my event planner was. I explained that I had actually sent him over to discuss the children. I reiterated that the even was child-free and said that I had stated so clearly on my invitations."
The wife "sort of" apologised, but then proclaimed that she was capable of making sure her children didn't get in the way of things, but it didn't do much to reassure the bride.
Eventually after more heated conversation she "snapped" and told the couple they needed to go.
She added: "The whole scene was incredibly embarrassing which is exactly what I wanted to avoid.
"I really hate that my wedding day had to be somewhat marred by this incident. According to my mother, everyone was talking about it and I guess enjoying a little dramatic entertainment.
"Was I a**hole for making them leave?"
Many people took the time to comment on her post, agreeing that she hadn't done anything wrong.
One person wrote: "When someone says no kids, it means NO KIDS!"
Another posted: "For them to argue about it was even more outrageous. You don't have to explain or justify why you didn't want kids at your own wedding."
A third added: "The inconsiderate couple who thought they were somehow excluded from the child-free part of the invitation are a**holes! What goes through the head of people like that?"
