Former US President Barack Obama could not hold back his tears after his eldest daughter Malia Obama went off to Harvard University last month.
In speech he delivered for the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children, he revealed that it was hard for him to let go.
In a video that went viral Mr Obama said it was hard especially that he was a father of two daughters. “For those of us who have daughters, it just happens fast,” he remarked.
“I was proud that I did not cry in front of her,” Obama said in his speech. He however said that to him it was like an open-heart surgery seeing off her daughter.
“I dropped off Malia at college…it was a little bit like open-heart surgery,” He said, admitting that he shed tears as he left the alma mater.
“The Secret Service was all looking straight ahead pretending they weren’t hearing me as I sniffled and blew my nose. It was rough.”
