Wayne Rooney has expressed his annoyance after a video of him boxing in his own home was made public, prior to the 3-0 win over Spurs on Sunday.
The video released by The Sun, showed the England captain getting seemingly knocked out by former United team-mate Phil Bardsley in an impromptu boxing bout in the striker’s kitchen.
Louis van Gaal hailed Wayne Rooney after he celebrated by pretending to be floored.
Asked about the incident, Rooney said: “That’s the world we live in today. It’s in my own home, it’s not public. It’s what friends do - they mess around in the house.
"It was a couple of mates in a private house, and somehow it's managed to get on the front page of a national newspaper.
"I've just been focused on the game, it's more interesting for other people rather than for me. You've seen today, I've done a professional job and helped my team win 3-0."
Although United are now only eight points behind leaders Chelsea, Van Gaal claimed they are too far back to launch a late title charge.
